چکیده

The aqueous solution behavior of some rare-earth chlorides has been investigated at 25° C. in the concentration range between 0.02 molal and saturation. Density measurements on solutions of lanthanum, neodymium, samarium, gadolinium, dysprosium, erbium, and ytterbium chlorides were carried out by a pycnometric method with an estimated accuracy of 1 x 10-5 gm.per ml. From the density data the apparent molal volumes for these rare-earth chlorides were calculated. The apparent molal volume data for each rareearth chloride were expressed as a function of the square root of the molality by a five-parameter power series from which partial molal volumes were calculated. Conductance measurements on solutions of these rareearth chlorides were carried out over the same concentration range using the conventional alternating-current technique. In addition, the solubilities of the rare-earth chlorides at 25° c. were determined. Solubility of rare earth metal bromides and iodides in aqueous systems

ABSTRACT The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) project of collection, compilation, and critical evaluation of solubility data of bromides and iodides of the scandium group and all lanthanides in water and aqueous systems containing either halide acids, halide salts, or organic compounds is under preparation. As a result of their similarity to the chlorides, which were re...

Thermodynamic quantities of surface formation of aqueous electrolyte solutions X. Aqueous solution of 2:1 valence-type salts.

The behaviors of a series of calcium halides and of alkali earth metal chlorides in the air/water surface region were studied in comparison with those of alkali metal halides by measuring the surface tension increments of solutions. The effect of salts with divalent cations on the surface tension increments is more pronounced than that of uni-univalent salts, but there are some similarities bet...

Investigation of performances of solvents D2EHPA, Cyanex272, and their mixture system in separation of some rare earth elements from a Nitric Acid solution

This work was aimed to evaluate and compare the performances of the solvents D2EHPA (Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid), Cyanex 272 (bis (2,4,4-trimethylpentyl) phosphinic acid), and a mixture system of D2EHPA and Cyanex272 in the separation of some rare earth elements (REEs) including lanthanum, gadolinium, neodymium, and dyspersym from a nitric acid solution. The results obtained showed that ...
